Samanta Neurobiology Lab
During the Spring 2024 and the Summer 2024 semesters, I participated in wet lab research in Dr. Jayshree Samanta’s lab in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Samanta’s research focuses on treating demylinating diseases such as Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease, and how stem cells are involved in the remylination processes. Dr. Samanta conducts research in rodent models.
Many of my responsibilities as an undergraduate researcher included cryostat brain sectioning, immunostaining, and cell counting. This required technical skills as well as software skills with ImageJ and other cell imaging softwares.
Overall, I have acquired around 400 hours of wet-lab research experience.
